The Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), visited Brussels for meetings with senior officials of the European Commission and took the opportunity to also meet with Samoa’s Ambassador to the EU, H.E. Fatumanava Dr Pa’olelei Luteru.

The Secretary-General reiterated UNWTO’s appreciation of Samoa’s strategic role in declaring 2017 as the UN International Year Sustainable Tourism Development.  He also invited Samoa’s presence at the official launch in January 2017.  Ambassador Luteru raised the challenge of UNWTO doing all it can to ensure that elements of the SAMOA Pathway within the organisation’s mandate are implemented in a timely and effective manner.
