Samoa’s Ambassador based in Brussels, H.E. Fatumanava III Dr Pa’olelei Luteru, attended a special event for the President Xi Jinping hosted by the College of Europe in Bruges on 1st April 2014. President Xi Jinping spoke of the need to deepen China-EU future relations and how this should be firmly embedded on a clear understanding of history. President Jinping also saw such relations as taking on a leadership role in shaping responses to global challenges and opportunities in the future especially in areas such as trade and renewable energy.  The King of the Belgians, Phillip and Queen Matilde attended as well as local dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps and heads of business houses.
