SAMOA HAND OVER CHAIR TO GHANA
At the Working Group on Fisheries meeting held on 21 February 2020, Samoa handed over the Chairmanship of the ACP WG to the Ambassador of Ghana, H.E. Harriet Sena Siaw-Boateng. Ghana was endorsed by the Council of Ministers during its 111th Session to host the 7th meeting of Ministers responsible for fisheries and aquaculture in 2021.
In his closing remarks as Chair of the Working Group, the Ambassador of Samoa, H.E. Fatumanava III Dr Pa’olelei Luteru recalled that the WG had been able to implement a number of key decisions of Council, notably the successful launch of the FISH4ACP programme. He noted that cooperation and partnerships with players in the multilateral arena has been expanded including side events in the margins of UNGA and UNCTAD on oceans, Our Oceans conference, and the Blue Economy Conference in Nairobi.
Ambassador Luteru concluded by thanking members of the WG and the Secretariat for their invaluable contributions and unwavering support during his two-year tenure. He also welcomed and wish Ambassador Sena Siaw-Boateng every success at the helm of the Working Group.
